Description

Fraya has a long story to tell...

You see, this WONDERFUL dog, a golden retriever border collie mix, was going to be put to death.

She was a beautiful puppy, only 10 months old. Sweet, obedient, and loving. A truly loving baby girl.

Her owners picked her up for free, thinking she was "cute."

But the cuteness wore off the first time she started to bark... and even though she was just a baby, they threw her outside. No collars, no leashes, no fences or borders. Just outside to fend for herself in some of the coldest months of the year.

They fed her daily, but that was all she got. She whimpered daily, begging for love, for someone to even acknowledge her. She was taken from her warm, loving mom, and thrown into the cold, a shivering little puppy who only wanted to be held.

They brought their small dogs outside with them, cuddled and coddled them in front of her. Their sweet voices pushing her to beg louder for just a small bit of that love.

A few months later, the whimpering became too annoying, and they finally decided that she should go to the pound. But the pound in TN is a horrible place. It isn't even open to the public anymore. So many strays and unwanted dogs have forced them to just euthanize on the spot.

This poor baby girl was being given a death sentence, just because she wanted companionship...

When they found out about the pound, they finally felt a bit of remorse... Looking through the window at the puppy as she sat up and begged at the silhouette in the window.

They decided to take her to the vet and have her put down, assuring she at least had some love in death.

THIS is when I heard about her... My friend and I drove up there to see her, this poor dog loose in the yard. She was scared at first, obviously worried we may beat her like her owners had.

But within minutes, she saw the open arms and dove in. Gentle, loving, she just wanted to be pet, be loved. I hugged her for hours, and she refused to leave me, forcing her big body to lay within my lap as if she were a small dog.

How could I leave her??

We asked them to allow us to take her, explaining that she needed love, and not to be put down. She was an amazing girl, learning tricks and commands within minutes of teaching her.

They then began to act like they wasn't sure I would give her a good enough home, as if they actually cared about her! It was outrageous!

But in the end, my persistence won out, and the big, beautiful Fraya became mine.

It took weeks to get her to a decent weight, for her coat to become shiny and stop shedding. Fir me to find and remove all the ticks, get rid of the fleas.

But now, she is not only healthy, but she is loved greatly, and her happiness is apparent every time she jumps up into my lap on the couch and licks my face.

This poor girl is finally content, slowly learning the fun of dog toys, the wonderful game of fetch, how to chew rawhide, how to have fun on walks in the woods, and best of all, how to laze in the bed and on the couch.

A happy ending for a dog who really deserved it.

I really love my little Fray Fray, and I wanted to share her happy and silly faces with you all so you can love her too.

Your dog is quite beautiful. I can't wait to get my own partner for life.
